Launch of New Anti-Terror Workshops

Masha'Allah, its good to see that these workshops are happening - nobody seems to know what is going on or how to handle security services, and end up getting themselves in trouble. This should be advertised everywhere.

Alert: Launch of New Anti-Terror Workshops

The Islamic Human Rights Commission, supported by Stop Political Terror, is pleased to announce the launch of new workshops designed to educate the community about the latest anti-terror legislation.

Since 9/11, IHRC has been active in conducting anti-terror workshops in mosques, campuses and community centres in Britain. The workshops, entitled ‘Know your Rights’, were designed to educate the community about their rights under the anti-terror legislation and how to deal with being approached by Special Branch, MI5, MI6 and other security agencies. With the introduction of new anti-terror laws this month, the creation of new offences such as ‘glorification of terrorism’ and the targeting of not only Muslims but Islam itself, IHRC has felt it necessary to re-launch these workshops to inform the community about the implications of these laws.

Consequently, IHRC has teamed up with Stop Political Terror to produce ‘Know your Rights, Know your Duty’ workshops. Learn about the new laws, find out how to challenge them, educate yourself on how to help detainees and their families. If you would like to hold an anti-terror workshop in your mosque, Islamic society, or circle, please do not hesitate to contact IHRC.

Sister only workshops are also catered for and conducted by fully trained sisters.

Contact IHRC today if you are interested please email workshops@ihrc.org or call 020 8904 4222

I think I went to one of these; it was excellent. Babar Ahmed's wife was there, Masha'Allaah.

I'll send this around to the ISOC reps I know, it's definately worthwhile to know your rights. Jazakallahukhair.
